ANSES and Inserm sign a scientific cooperation partnership agreement
Gilles Bloch, Chairman and CEO of Inserm, and Roger Genet, Director General of ANSES, today signed a framework partnership agreement formalising their long-standing collaboration on major public health issues such as endocrine disruptors, nanomaterials, air pollution, pesticides and infectious agents. The two organisations also intend to develop the "One Health" approach in the fight against antibiotic resistance in animal health. This partnership reflects the two public organisations' shared desire for ever-closer coordination of their competence in scientific expert appraisal and research in the public interest.
Inserm and ANSES have been conducting joint scientific projects for many years in the areas of human and animal health and the environment. The five-year framework agreement signed today consolidates their ambition to reinvigorate and broaden their collaboration in support of public health policy-making.
The partnership provides for targeted joint research and coordinated implementation of health risk assessment and expert appraisal work, as well as closer scientific ties between the teams that may extend to the creation of joint research and expertise groups. It also plans for the shared use of equipment or biological materials and the sharing of data.
In addition, this agreement will facilitate the implementation of Inserm projects funded under ANSES's National Research Programme for Environmental and Occupational Health (PNR EST). Moreover, the involvement of the two organisations in the One Health DIM (field of major interest) scientific project demonstrates their willingness to deepen their commitment to the One Health approach in the fight against antibiotic resistance in animal health.
Through this agreement, the two organisations commit to strengthening the links between scientific expert appraisal and research, thereby advancing knowledge and safeguarding health on many topics of great importance, such as the exposome, environmental aggression and chronic diseases, zoonotic infectious diseases, risks associated with endocrine disruptors or nanomaterials, and occupational exposure and disease.
Inserm (French National Institute for Health and Medical Research)

ANSES
ANSES provides public decision-makers with the scientific benchmarks needed to protect humans and the environment against health risks. It studies, assesses and monitors all the chemical, microbiological and physical risks to which humans, animals and plants are exposed, thereby helping the public authorities take the necessary measures, including in the event of a health crisis. A national agency working in the public interest, ANSES comes under the responsibility of the French Ministries of Health, the Environment, Agriculture, Labour and Consumer Affairs.
